Handwriting Styles CharacteristicsHandwriting has appeared many centuries ago when individuals did not benefit from the advantage of writing machines or computers. For a long time, handwriting has been the only way in which people could transmit a piece of information and thus could communicate with other people. The only condition for handwriting to be an efficient way of transmitting information was that the individuals to whom the information was transmitted could actually read that specific handwriting. There are many different handwriting styles and it can be said that every individual has his own style. This has lead to the emergence of graphology, a science in which handwriting analysis is performed in order to identify details about the personality of the writer.
Handwriting is certainly no longer a big player when it comes to transmitting information as its place has been taken by the computerized world. Yet, most people are thought the basics of handwriting and are encouraged to practice handwriting until they develop their own style in childhood. In almost every part of the world, children are thought at school about how they should hold a pen and how letters can be formed with their hands and their pens. Of course, in some cases it may be the parents who inspire their children to learn how to write.
There are many things that appertain to a specific handwriting style and which actually define that style. Some of these features include the particular shape of the letters namely their roundness or sharpness, their slope as well as their size. Moreover, every individual tends to choose his own line spacing and spacing in between the letters which may also be a characteristic of a particular handwriting style. Nevertheless, the same can be said about the pressure that is exercised on the paper. These are not only aspects that make handwriting specific to a person, but they are also features analyzed by graphologists. Yet, the handwriting style may be altered or improved through handwriting practice.
